Valérie de Roquemaurel : Une fleur dans le ciel

The exhibition “Une fleur dans le ciel” displayed in the Passerelle of the Vitromusée Romont shows hand-blown, manually diamond-cut glass objects matted by sandblasting by the contemporary artist Valérie de Roquemaurel (*1982) from Toulouse, who has already been working with the material glass for over 20 years and is based in the Swiss town of Pomy (VD).

The glass creations exhibited at the Vitromusée Romont have a special color and light effect, with a spectrum ranging from bright red to powdery pink, as well as opaque and semi-transparent shades of blues and greens. Timeless forms characterize the sculptural glass objects and are combined with motifs that the artist discovered in the medieval Swiss church of Grandson (VD). Thus, on a fresco painted in the 15th century in the northern chapel of this church, there are eight-pointed stars, which served the artist as a source of inspiration for the ornaments cut on the glasses.
