Iconic Pieces. Verres emblématiques de Venise
The exhibition Iconic Pieces. Verres emblématiques de Venise will shed new light on the art of glass in Venice in the twentieth century, focusing on emblematic pieces produced by three important manufacturers: M.V.M. Cappellin, Venini and Seguso Vetri d’Arte. From Carlo Scarpa’s famous transparent spherical vase of 1926, which has become the symbol of M.V.M. Cappellin production, to Flavio Poli’s multicoloured sommerso glasses produced from the 1950s onwards for Seguso Vetri d’Arte, to the famous Fazzoletto designed by Fulvio Bianconi for Venini in 1948, the exhibition will bring together a selection of original drawings, photographs and pieces that transformed the art of glass in the 20th century. Alongside works from the permanent collection of the Vitromusée Romont, the exhibition will show original drawings and photographs from the archives of the Centro Studi del Vetro of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, presented in Switzerland for the first time. This exceptional documentation will highlight the importance and visual fortune of these iconic pieces that have marked the glass arts of the contemporary era.
