Alfons Mucha. Sensualité et esthétique florale

The temporary exhibition «Alfons Mucha. Sensualité et esthétique florale», conceived and produced in collaboration with the Maison Bergès (Musée de la Houille blanche, Villard-Bonnot), is devoted to a cycle of glass painted in oil around 1900 by the master of Art Nouveau Alfons Mucha for the industrialist Aristide Bergès. Although secular, this cycle is reminiscent of Mucha’s allegorical representations of the four seasons, or his famous advertising posters for Moët et Chandon or the theatre actress Sarah Bernhardt, which catapulted him to the top of the art world. A special chapter will also be devoted to Augusto Giacometti’s encounter with the works of Mucha, resulting in two drawings by the Swiss artist on loan from a private collection.
