Interconnected – Venise et Romont en dialogue
29 August 2021 – 9 January 2022
Conceived in partnership with the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, the exhibition brings together two centres of glass art - Venice and Romont – and explores the possibilities offered by digital tools for the arts. It presents a selection of works from the renowned glass factory Seguso Vetri d’Arte in Murano, including two vases and their preparatory drawings by Flavio Poli, artistic director of this company. Based on these drawings, copies of these vases were created especially for the exhibition using two methods: one using the modern technique of 3D printing from a digitally generated model and the other using the traditional glassblowing procedure by the Swiss artist Thomas Blank. The juxtaposition between the originals and these two forms of copying prompts us to question the seemingly limitless possibilities of reproducing artworks in the digital age.
